Avoid a Speeding Ticket on the road

By John Hartley

Avoid a Speeding Ticket - Follow a Speeder

When you drive along the expressway or Interstate, you may wonder how it is that so many people speed, yet many get away with it. Often, you will be overtaken by cars going 10 mph or more faster than you. However, if the police have set up a speed trap with a radar or laser gun you might be the one who is caught.

You may think that it is a random choice that you were the one to be caught - and it is in that people are speeding in all sorts of places and only a few get caught. However, there is a way of driving that people who drive fast over long distances often use - use another care as a "sweeper".

This method works best on esxpressways where there is a lot of traffic, mostly going fast. Whehn someone who seems to be traveling fast overtakes you, slip in behind them, and drop back a little. Ideally, you should travel a bit slower than the car in front.

Of course, if they brake sharply, you should slow down to the legal speed fast. This way you are unlikely to be caught going too fast. The imporrtant points here are to keep well back from the car in front, and to try to go a little slower. Also be very observant, watching the traffic ahead and also looking at the side of the road fo anything unusual.

Putting a faster car in front of you is like putting a barrier between you and the ticket. In any case, if you are speeding, the way to avoid a speeding ticket is to be observant, and to listen to the radio - sometimes people phone in to say where the police have set up a speed trap. Of course, you should always drive at a speed you can drive safely and should always keep a good distance from the car in front - and by being observant, especially where the road goes underneath a road bridge- can help you avoid speeding tickets.
